What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service for borrowing materials not owned by Crossett Library or Jennings Library.

How much does ILL cost, and who can use it?

The service is free to all current Bennington College and Middlebury Language School students, faculty, and staff.

Getting Started

Step 1: Create an Interlibrary Loan Account

  • Enter your Given Name, Surname, Email Address and create a password. You don't need a Bennington College ID #.

Step 2: Use Interlibrary Loan.

  • You can request articles, book chapters, books, DVDs, etc. Articles and book chapters are emailed directly to you and usually arrive within 24-48 hours of your request. Books, DVDs, and other physical material can take between 3-5 days to arrive.

  • Many of Crossett's databases are linked directly to our Interlibrary Loan service. If full-text is unavailable, a message may appear, "Request through Interlibrary Loan" which will auto-import the citation information into the request screen.
